Love donuts so much that you’d like to make your own donut tree? The only way to satisfy your donut obsession is with this holiday arts and crafts project.
What you need
- Donut pan
- Plaster of Paris
- Disposable bowl and stirrer for plaster
- Small paper clips
- Hammer
- Paint (one for donut and one for frosting)
- Twine
- Foam brushes for painting
- Puffy paint (sprinkles)
- Towel
How to
- Tie a loop of twine to one side of the paperclip for each donut before you do the plaster, since it tends to dry very quickly
- Stir the plaster in your bowl and pour into each donut mold in the pan until it reaches the top
- A few minutes after having poured it, insert a twine paperclip horizontally at the edge of each donut, so that the twine hangs out
- If the plaster has already hardened and the paperclip is sticking out, just add a little plaster to cover the tip
- Wait an hour for donuts to harden
- To pop the donuts out of the pan, lay out a towel on the counter and flip your pan over
- Lightly tap the back of each mold to get the donuts out
- One they are out, start by painting each donut and let them dry
- Once dry, paint the frosting on the rounded part and wait for them to dry
- Once the frosting is dry, finish by using the puffy paint to pipe tiny sprinkles on each donut
Enjoy hanging them in your Christmas tree!
